Chengcing Lake, formerly named Dabei Lake, is located in Niaosong Township in Kaohsiung County. It is the latgest lake in the Kaohsiung and one of the most popular tourist attractions in southern Taiwan. It was originally developed from wetlands into a reservoir to meet the need for water for industrial use. Later the lake focused on its landscaping and opened to the public as a tourist destination in 1960.
There are many attractions within the lake. Two main attractions are Bridge of Nine Turns and Jhongsing (Restoration) Pagoda.
Bridge of Nine Turns
The Bridge of Nine Turns was built in 1960. It is 230 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. The bridge does have have nine turns.
Jhongsing (Restoration) Pagoda
The top of seven-story height Jhongsing (Restoration) Pagoda The Jhongsing (Restoration) Pagoda is reached via a winding staircase. This is the lake area's tallest the structuren (43 meters), making for the best panoramas.
